Kaduna: Mix Reactions as INEC Dump Corp Members after Bye-election

Corp Members serving in Kaunda State have cried out for not being paid by the Kaduna state government after serving as INEC  Ad-hoc staffs in the just concluded Bye-election 

The  Kaduna State Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC), Corp Members who served as Ad-hoc staffs in the Kaduna State Bye-election have alleged that they have not been paid since after the election.

Before the election, the corp members said they were asked by INEC to use their personal money for fair and that it will be refunded after the election. While some stressed that they were not given accommodation that they slept on the roadside, while an  interview with the  INEC Public Relations Department revealed that feeding allowance was given.

The election which was held on February 3, made use of 3,000 corp members serving as  Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) in six constituencies comprising of about seven local governments of the state.

Of the 3,000 Corper members, none have received payment till date. 

In a peaceful protest by the corp members Ad-hoc staffs to pour their plights revealed that, the  money was released on 14th February but due to some who submitted wrong account number it could not  be disbursed.

However, Corp Members and  undergraduates who happened to be Ad-hoc staffs in the Kaduna State Bye-election have called on government to come to their aid.

  1. I'm also a real victim of this issue work as Presiding officer in Chikun LG and it cause me alot to settle my feeding and transport allawance the pain is too much let those responsible for such know and action need to be taken with immediate effects.

  2. I'm also a real victim of this issue work as Presiding officer in Chikun LG ever since I barely feed my self because I have use all my money for transport and feeding while we are having training and a day of election. Is very unfair, we are serving and yet our parents were still feeding us.

  4. I spent 6k on transport only for both training and the election location not to talk of what I spent for eating, not to talk of the pain they caused me after the election. We’re exposed to cold, harmattan and sleeping on the foor in class rooms. I’ve to go treat myself after the election and they’re yet to pay us. Please fear God
